Even though we organise them we think that Fun casinos are not really suitable for parties where there are a lot of children present. Although there is no law forbidding young people from attending fun casinos, we do not want to encourage under age gambling.
It is out normal policy not to allow young people under the age of 18 to play at our gaming tables. However, ultimately it is your decision and if we are helping at your private party or wedding we will allow young people limited access to play at the tables providing they are strictly supervised at all times.
We are often asked if it is legal to hold fun casinos. The answer is that it is providing you stick to the rules.
Events including Fun Casinos are covered under Section 15 of the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976.
In layman's terms Section 15 states the following:
If you are charging people to attend the event, the casino must not be the only "inducement to attend", it must be combined with a dinner, a disco, a social etc. All the proceeds raised, after deduction of expenses, must go towards your charity, church or social club, (and must not be used for private gain).
Your event will be illegal if you hold it open to the general public, ie by advertising it in the local paper or outside of your club's premises.
